Samsung UN40C7000
This is my first purchase of a flat panel television, I spent a long time deciding on what to spend my money on. I can say that I am very happy with my decision to buy this television.
Although I have only seen the 3-d effect on the Monsters vs Aliens blu-ray, it is really incredible, very entertaining and mesmerizing.
I am looking forward to additional availability of 3-d televised sporting events like World Cup soccer this summer. this is a great Samsung tv
The one "negative" I would say is the auto-motion option, the "Spanish Soap Opera" effect is kind of off-putting when watching a movie. I have yet to watch a sporting event with auto-motion engaged so I am reserving judgment on that option until I do. Like the first reviewer, I turned auto-motion off, and think the picture quality of movies without that option is terrific.
I am updating this review now that I have watched the NBA playoffs with auto-motion engaged, and I can say that it definitely makes a positive difference in the picture.
Another nice thing about auto-motion, it has this great feature that allows the viewer to view half the screen in auto-motion and half without, thus making it much easier to compare which view is preferable. I see this as adding to the plus column when making a decision on whether to purchase.
Additionally, the shipping and delivery were flawless, the items were delivered in the timeframes that they were promised, and the person who delivered the tv was polite and courteous.
For the price, I think this television is definitely worth it, I am happy I waited to pull the trigger on a flat panel purchase until now.

Samsung LN40C630 40-Inch
The picture on this TV was stunning right out of the box. After a few minor adjustments it was as close to perfect as I could imagine. It came with the SQ01 panel and it would be hard to differentiate the color depth and quality from some of the plasma sets I looked at. The TV is in a very bright room and the matte screen cuts out glare with no picture degradation. The viewing angle is very good, though we are never more than 25 to 30 degress off center. The LCD this replaced did not have a very good SD picture so I wasn't expecting much difference with the Samsung. But it actually looks great, almost like HD. It also has separate settings for processing speed and anti-judder. I watch a lot of sports and barely noticed motion blur at 60hz and virtually none at 120hz. With this set I would see no need to spend more money for a 240hz option. The sound is very good for normal TV viewing. Its also internet ready with both USB and ethernet connections, though to do so via USB requires an adaptor that is not included. There is no S video connection so you may need some component cables to hook up older external equipment. UVerse is the programming source.
One thing about settings. This has a feature that can automatically adjust the picture to room brightness. The first night the picture suddenly got much darker in the evening, but only in Standard viewing mode. I reset the brightness but it would not hold the new settings once I left the menu. I spoke with Samsung and they had no idea why this was happening. So I read the manual one more time and it turns out this is due to a factory default setting in the Eco portion of the menu. You can either set the auto adjust to never go below a certain brightness level or you can turn it off completely, which is what I did. And that took care of it.
The last time I bought a LCD I continued to look around in case I found something better. That will not be the case this time as I am completely satisfied. Pilot shipping through Amazon was great. They delivered on time, set up the TV and swivel stand, and had everything working in 5-10 minutes.

Samsung UN46B8000 46-Inch
this blog tv is great for geting the samsung tv
Consumer Reports has not rated this set yet. Their current top rated set is the samsung ln650, which although good, has minor flaws, such as "3-ball effect" (tennis and football), varying shade of green on football fields when comparing line of scrimmage versus either side, and some smudginess.
I see none of that with UN46B8000 that I bought last week. Fast motion is excellent. White is white, black is black, and reds and blues are beautiful. Clarity is excellent. Once in a while I've seen intense yellows and greens where I've wondered if it was an accurate depiction, but I've not made any adjustments yet. But, it's hard to get all these qualities, especially whites, in plasma. I'm not a professional, just my observations based on a few months of shopping.
My opinion is that plasma has lost it's advantage, especially if you consider power consumption. Plasmas only advantage now is price, but that should change over time.
The only problem with the un46b800 I've had is that occasionally the backlight setting jumps up. I think c/net mentioned this. Still, I'm very satisfied with this set.
